See a shot of Zeta Ophiuchi from NASA?s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer

type="html">

What you are seeing here is an infrared image of Zeta Ophiuchi. Don’t ask me how to pronounce the part that comes after Zeta.

This Zeta Ophiuchi is a supergiant star that is actually blue, even though the interstellar dust makes it looks red. Anyway, this was shot with NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE).

The Astronomers at NASA believe that Zeta Ophiuchi was once part of a binary system that separated, and then shot away at 54,000 miles an hour.

I believe that there will be more impressive astronomical shots on the way. Can’t wait.
