This new camera sounds like it uses a Sony sensor with a 16 or 24 Megapixel variant.
There is another rumor going around involves a prosumer camera, with the Coolpix P500 to replace the P100. Other improvements could include a 36X optical zoom with the inclusion of a lens dial to adjust the zoom. Also “mentioned” was a 12 Megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sesnor, for low-light scenarios.
The first rumor mentioned in the second paragraph above sounds like it will turn up in April, while the one mentioned in the last paragraph might show up in February.
