Water on a hot pan at 3,000 fps

type="html">

What you are seeing right now is what happens when drops of water are place on a boiling hot plate, and shot at 3,000 frames per second.

If you have ever put water on a hot pan, then you know how quickly a drip boils into nothing almost instantaneously.

Actually, it doesn’t disappear or turn to steam right away. Thanks to this high speed photography, we know that it will bounce and dance on the hot surface for quite some time before it goes.

The one drop here lasted for 152 seconds, despite it being on a hot plate of 395 degrees Fahrenheit.
