Adobe has launched Photoshop Express 1.5 for iOS devices. The free program debuts a fast new camera workflow that enables continuous, rapid photo-taking directly in the app, adds multi-tasking and full Retina display support, and offers a better photo uploading experience. Photoshop Express 1.5 for iOS is available immediately on the App store. Note that the new version requires iOS 4.2.

Adobe today announced the immediate availability of Adobe Photoshop Express 1.5 software for iOS devices. Designed for iOS 4.2, Photoshop Express 1.5 introduces significant improvements to the photo capture and editing experience, including:
New camera workflow: Photoshop Express 1.5 debuts a fast new camera workflow that enables continuous, rapid photo-taking directly in the app. Customers can quickly capture and review multiple shots—even those hard-to-get action shots—and hand them off seamlessly to the Photoshop Express editor for cropping, adjustments and effects (designed for iPhone and iPod Touch models with built-in cameras).
Full Retina display support on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch models: Photos look smooth and sharp, and the app screen looks crisp and clear, thanks to full support for Retina display in Photoshop Express 1.5.
Multi-tasking support: With new support for multi-tasking in iOS 4.2, Photoshop Express 1.5 remembers where customers leave off when they switch to another app and then switch back to Photoshop Express. That means customers can pay attention to email, news, games and other activities on their iOS device and then jump right back into viewing or editing a photo without having to start over.
Improved photo uploading: One of the benefits of multi-tasking support is a better photo uploading experience. Now customers can queue and continue uploading photos to Photoshop.com or Facebook in the background while switching between Photoshop Express 1.5 and other apps.

HDR Express automates key aspects of the HDR production process, such as tone mapping and halo elimination, offering a streamlined and very easy-to-follow workflow. After merging the multiple exposures required for the HDR process into a 32-bit image, the simplified user interface presents an animated exposure range preview of the HDR image along with five tone mapping preset options. For the fastest results, users can then choose from a series of colour and style presets or create their own presets using the program’s adjustment sliders which manipulate brightness, highlight and shadow recovery, black point, contrast, saturation and white balance. James Clews has been named the Express Insurance photographer of the year. “My photograph was taken at Hawkstone Park in Shropshire for the British series and captures the renowned motocross rider Mike Brown,” James said. “The idea of the shot was to give the rider a better sense of speed and bring out the colours. I used a panning shot which is a great technique in photographing this sport.” James’ winning prize is £250 worth of KTM motorcycle gear plus an exclusive one-to-one photography lesson with professional photographer Ray Archer.

James Clews named Express Insurance Motocross Photographer of the Year
James Clews from Exmouth, Devon has been named the Express Insurance photographer of the year, beating off more than 600 other entries in the process.
The final five photographs were judged at the Dirt Bike Show on Friday 5th November 2010 by a number of high profile judges including KTM motocross rider Martin Barr and renowned motocross photographer Ray Archer.
James’ winning prize is £250 worth of KTM motorcycle gear plus an exclusive one-to-one photography lesson with professional photographer Ray Archer.

The runner-up, Andrew Conway, received a Flip HD Video Camera and a pair of tickets to a round of his choice at the 2011 Maxxis motocross Championships. Andrew Waghorne in third place, won £50 worth of KTM motorcycle gear and a pair of tickets to a round of his choice at the 2011 Maxxis motocross championships.
James, 23, who has been taking motocross photographs for the last three and a half years, says: “I’m over the moon to have won the competition, I can’t quite believe it. This means so much to me and has shown that my photography education has paid off.
I’m really looking forward to my one to one session with Ray Archer to get an insight on how a professional takes his shots and I can’t wait to get back out there and take some more photos.”

KTM rider Martin Barr and judge commented: “This was a cool competition and produced some fantastic photographs. The final five shots showed a variety of motocross action and there is obviously a wealth of photography talent out there.”
