WidePhotoViewer is an iPhone/iPod/iPad app that allows users to access their galleries and individual photos stored on Flickr, Facebook and SmugMug. This includes the ability to upload photos directly to these sites as well as download albums for offline viewing. Billed as the most complete photo-viewing app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, WidePhotoViewer also lets users add captions and titles to their photos, display EXIF data, and view panoramas at full resolution. Note that while WidePhotoViewer is free, some of the afore-mentioned features are available in the premium version only, which is priced at $0.99.

Press Release

WidePhotoViewer Beats Apple’s Photos App Limitations
BOULDER, Colo., Jan. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/—WidePhotoViewer for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad now gives photographers a way around the three worst problems with Apple’s built-in Photos app: No titles or captions to identify photos, no way to view panoramas with full resolution, and using iTunes to synch photos.

“When the iPad arrived last year, professional photographers started using it to show photos to clients. It sounds crazy, but there was no way to identify the individual shots,” said Marc Rochkind, developer of WidePhotoViewer. “They also griped about iTunes as the only way to get photos onto the iPad. WidePhotoViewer is my answer.”

WidePhotoViewer is the most complete photo-viewing app for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, with these key features:

  * Accesses Flickr, Facebook, SmugMug, and Photo Library—the only app that can do all four.
* Download albums for offline viewing.
* Choice of thumbnail, grid, full-screen, or slideshow views.
* Display of titles, captions, camera (EXIF) data, and comments.
* Direct editing of titles and captions.
* Support for the iPhone/iPod camera.
* Upload directly to Flickr, Facebook, or SmugMug.
* Flickr exploration (interestingness, recent from everyone, Getty, searches, etc.).

Most of what WidePhotoViewer can do is free. An in-app upgrade unlocks the premium features, such as uploading, downloading, and title/caption editing.

WidePhotoViewer is available now in the App Store. More information is on the Web at http://basepath.com/WidePhotoViewer.
